Ross is here to provide you with the most unique and expressionistic refreshers for your home. We would like you to start this New Year with intent to be just a little happier in your home. Here are a few ideas that you can mull over.
Follow your heart, not the trends.
Trends have their own way of sneaking their way into our brains and influencing our opinions on what we want anyway, but go with what your true heart desires. If the foretasted spring paint color or the print that you see everywhere isn't quite what you want, then don’t do it. After all, it is your home, you’re the trendmaster here.
Define the role of your rooms.
The New Year gives us feelings of organization and freshness. Start by going through each of your rooms in your home and defining what your sole purposes are for each. Then remove the items that do not serve those purposes and replace them to the rooms that they do. This will make your life a bit more organized and uncluttered.
Design a mood board.
If you’re planning on redoing a part of your home or just daydreaming about it, create a mood board. It’s fun and easy. Go through that old stack of magazines, collect actual swatches and pieces to attach, and scavenge the internet for items, color hues, and prints you enjoy and feel good about. You will end up with some sort of theme you creatively came up with or pattern to your madness. ïŠ Use this to inspire and influence your next project.
Give your entryway a facelift.
Not only is your front door the first impression guests get of your home, but more than likely you use it daily as well. Two perfectly great reasons to update your entrance. Whether it’s new hardware, a different paint color, or a cool door knocker, it will be a breath of fresh air. Consider the entrance inside of your home as well. Can you imagine a tall/slim table with a fabulous lamp, or a collage of mirrors if you need to open up the space in your foyer? It’s a simple, yet sophisticated update.
Set your table at every meal.
We tend to live to fast. Slow down and enjoy instead. Set your table for every meal, whether it’s take out or not; bring out the real plates, silverware and glass glasses. You could even add a great table runner, floral piece, and place mats.
Set the mood lighting.
Table and floor lamps are amazing. They add ambiance to any room and have functionality as well. Ideally, three light sources per room in needed and the more the merrier! If you have existing overhead lighting install a dimmer switch and then bring in a few other table and floor lamps to make it cozy.
We wish you all a very wonderful 2013.
